Walk-in closet system with hanging sections, open shelving, drawer bank and integrated lighting

Closets

Ten thousand closets.

Walk-ins, reach-ins, wardrobes, pantries and laundry rooms. It's the work we've done more of than anything else — and the room where fitting the space properly makes the biggest difference.

The rooms we fit out

Closet work covers more than bedrooms. The same approach applies wherever storage has to fit a space exactly rather than approximately.

  • Walk-in closets — hanging sections, drawer banks, shoe shelving, islands
  • Reach-in closets — getting full use of a standard bedroom closet
  • Built-in wardrobes where there's no closet to work with
  • Pantries — adjustable shelving sized to what you actually store
  • Laundry rooms — folding surfaces, hanging space, supply storage

Why fitted beats off-the-shelf

Most closets are awkward. Sloped ceilings, a soffit cutting across one wall, a radiator in the corner, walls that aren't square. Modular shelving from a box store assumes none of that, which is why it never quite fits and why the last eight inches of every run go unused.

A fitted system is measured to the space as it actually is. The difference shows up as usable storage: the full height gets used, the awkward corner gets a solution, and nothing is left over.

What makes one last

The failures we get called to fix are almost always the same two things. Shelves that sag because nothing supports the middle of a long run. And systems anchored into drywall alone, which pull loose the first time someone loads them properly.

Any shelf over roughly 32 inches gets a center support. Everything is anchored into framing. It's not complicated — it's just the part that gets skipped when someone's working fast.

How it goes

We measure, lay out the system around what you're actually storing, and install. A reach-in is a few hours. A walk-in is usually a day. You're not without a bedroom for a week.

Common questions

How long does a closet installation take?
A reach-in closet is usually a few hours. A walk-in is typically a single day. Larger systems, or jobs that need an existing closet torn out first, can run into a second day.
What does a custom closet cost?
It comes down to linear feet and what goes in them. A reach-in with shelving and a hanging rod is a very different number than a walk-in with drawer banks, shoe shelving and a center island. We quote from measurements — dimensions and a couple of photos are enough to start.
What's the difference between a reach-in and a walk-in system?
A reach-in is the standard bedroom closet with a door you open and reach into. Getting one right is mostly about using the full height and splitting the hanging space properly. A walk-in is a room you step into, so it can take drawers, shoe shelving, seating and an island.
Can you work around an awkward closet?
That's most of them. Sloped ceilings, soffits, a radiator in the corner, walls that are out of square — fitted storage is worth doing precisely because off-the-shelf shelving can't handle any of that. We measure the space as it actually is, not as it should be.
Do shelves sag over time?
Not if they're supported properly. Any shelf over about 32 inches needs a center support — without one it will bow within a couple of years under normal load. It's one of the most common faults we see in closets installed by someone else.
Which areas do you cover?
